Fringe Exchange – Programming with Diversity in Mind: Panel Discussion

Across the arts sector there is an increased focus on the need for diversity in programming, with funding bodies such as Arts Council England making the ‘Creative Case for Diversity’; producing work that represents and responds to the demographic of the UK, enriches arts and culture and innovates cultural practice.

2020 has been a challenging year for the arts and cultural sector; COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter have demonstrated how important arts and culture are for our society, and the genuine need for diversity in the arts.

Skinder Hundal (director of New Art Exchange), Stella Kanu (executive director of LIFT Festival) and Sharon Watson (CEO and principal of Northern School of Contemporary Dance) come together in a panel discussion, chaired by Pawlet Brookes (CEO and artistic director of Serendipity). The discussion will focus on key provocations on how programmers can keep diversity, accessibility and inclusivity at the forefront of programming and making a genuine step change for representation in programming, leadership and workforce.
